SKETCHES ON CANVAS
Around 2009, Akte One began to paint his sketches less frequently on paper and more often on canvas. He often used spray cans to create effective background structures, onto which he then drew his styles with acrylic markers. As he did not have a studio at the time, he created the small-format canvases at home.
In his first solo exhibition, he showed over 50 of these classic graffiti canvases and still produces a few new ones every now and then.
As he always worked in the typical landscape format both on the wall and on the paper, he found it a very pleasant change to work on the canvas in portrait format. Over time, his styles (lettering) adapted more and more to this format and developed further as a result.
The graffiti styles do not always have to be filled in, he often simply draws them as outlines on abstract background structures.
In contrast to his urban fine art works, here the artist works on prefabricated small-format canvases, which, when framed, add the right graffiti flavor to any room.
