The paintings by Akte One are multi-layered. Although they appear chaotic and confusing at first glance, they are clean and worked with attention to detail. On closer inspection, one recognizes and senses the special depth hidden within them.

Akte One is a versatile artist who is constantly rediscovering himself and loves the challenge of constantly creating something new. This is also reflected in his paintings. His works are experimental and cannot really be pinned down to one style. But even if the works often appear different, his signature style is always clearly recognizable.

FROM STREET TO CANVAS

Akte One’s paintings have their origins in his more than 30 years as a graffiti writer. The design of letters and lettering is still very important to him today.

His works on canvas are a kind of reinterpretation of his classic street graffiti styles with all their elements and structures, which he basically breaks down into all their components and arranges some of them into a new abstract composition. What some call vandalism and smearings is pure romanticism for Akte One, which he tries to immortalize in his pictures.
His professionally executed graffiti lettering still appears in most of his works, but the focus is more on the original elements such as tags, throw-ups, sprayed lines and similar structures that make up the origins of classic graffiti writing on the street.

TRUST THE PROCESS

When I stand in front of a blank canvas in the studio, I see a thousand ways to express myself. I often find it difficult to decide which direction to take. Quite often I simply start out of a feeling, without having a specific image in mind, and let the artwork emerge spontaneously in the process. This gives the painting a very special liveliness.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

In addition to the use of high-quality materials in the production of the artworks, the attention to detail in the work of Akte One is also clearly recognizable.
Even though some of the motifs may appear raw and dirty at first glance, they are precise and cleanly crafted.

As he assembles his canvases himself, he can paint the fabric before stretching it onto the frame. This has the advantage that the picture merges seamlessly at the edges of the canvas, which would not be possible with certain structures such as sprayed lines and the like on prefabricated canvases. This is particularly noticeable with thicker frames and gives the work a special radiance.

The artworks are finished with several layers of Lascaux UV Varnish as standard in order to preserve their value for as long as possible.
